Bio

I began my law enforcement career in 1982 with the San Bernardino County Marshal's Department as a clerk/dispatcher. I rose through the ranks and became an executive secretary in 1997. Our department merged with the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department in 1999 and became the Court Services Bureau, where I remained as the executive secretary to the deputy chief. In 2004 we packed up our family and moved out to the country in Southwest Missouri, where I live today. In 2005 Dade County Emergency Services came into existence and I was hired as a telecommunicator. I promoted to dispatch supervisor and communications training officer in 2007.  In March of 2019 I was hired as the communications manager for the Joplin Police Department, where I currently work.

I currently serve on the Ambulance Board as secretary and am the treasurer for Missouri APCO. I currently serve as the co-chair of the Education Committee for the Missouri Public Safety Communications Conference.  I also serve on the APCO Editorial Committee as the chair and have served on both the APCO Professional Development Events Committee and Historical Committees. I also serve on the boards of several non-profit groups in our area. I am married with one son who served in the United States Marine Corps (oorah!). I love what I do and I love teaching others and being part of the greatest profession, public safety communications!  I can't imagine doing anything else.
