The 2018 MONTANA APCO CONFERENCE will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn in Bozeman, MT on Oct. 31-Nov. 2. Don't miss this excellent training opportunity!

Wednesday, Oct. 31st: Workshops by Cheryl Greathouse, Immediate Past President of APCO International, the world’s oldest and largest organization of public-safety communications professionals.  Cheryl is the Georgia Public Safety Training Center’s Instructional Services Director and has over 33 years of experience in public safety. She holds a P.O.S.T. Master Instructor Certification, a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration. We are honored to have her present these three training programs:

  • Bullying in 9-1-1: This program confronts the reality that bullying can and does occur within the walls of your PSAP. It can be just as harmful there as it can be on the school playground. Participants will discuss bullying, intimidation and key factors that create an environment ripe for bullying. Discussions will also focus on how to prevent or stop bullying from happening in your PSAP and how to recover staff morale in a positive manner.
  • Dispatch Danger Zones: This interactive session examines dispatch danger zones which affect call takers and dispatchers and which could lead to serious errors in the PSAP. Solutions and tips and tricks will be discussed to avoid falling victim to these very realistic and sometimes dangerous mistakes.
  • Generational Issues at Work: This session provides insight into the influence that multi-generational dynamics can have on team effectiveness within the 9-1-1 environment. The characteristics of the four generation that exist in communications centers today will be described as well as the stages of group dynamics. Discussions will also focus on how to establish a fundamental base for building a multi-generational, high-functioning, public-safety communications team.

Thursday, Nov. 1st: TRAINING SESSIONS for Public Safety Communications Officers, Administrators, Supervisors, Trainers, Telephone and Radio Technicians. Topics include Verbal Judo, Transitioning to 800 MHz, Human Trafficking and a K-9 Demonstration. Visit the VENDOR EXHIBITS for amazing new technology.

Friday, Nov. 2nd: TRAINING SESSIONS continue with an overview of CJIN and a workshop on Self Defense. The day wraps up with the Montana APCO Chapter meeting, the Public Safety Awards luncheon and vendor giveaways.
