Jonathon Lerew

Bio

​Jonathon Lerew is a Records Specialist with South Sound 911, a unified communication center that provides Law Enforcement and Fire support for 41 police and fire agencies in Pierce County, Washington.  

Jonathon began his career in public safety in 2008, and spent his first three years with the Washington State Patrol as a Communications Officer before being promoted to a Communication Training Officer in 2011. In 2014, Jonathon joined the Communication Training Program Team for the Washington State Patrol as a Communication Training Program Officer at the Washington State Patrol Academy, where he choreographed the consolidation of WSP's hiring process, and the updating of WSP's outdate Communication Manual.  He also assisted in training two classes of State Patrol Troopers and Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officers in proper radio communication, and participated in training during tactical maneuvers. 

In 2016, Jonathon made a move to become an integral part of his regional communication center by joining the Communication team at South Sound 911  as a Communication Support Officer.  South Sound 911 handles approximately 920,000 calls a year from a community of over 795,000 residents over 1,790 square miles include a forested mountain range with the largest active volcano in the Pacific Northwest (Mount Rainier), several major earthquake faults, 217 miles of Puget Sound saltwater shorelines, and a 2,400-acre port.

Jonathon made another move in 2017, and joined the Records team as a Records Specialist with South Sound 911.  As a Records Specialist, he provides front-line services to Law Enforcement for all things NCIC/NLETS related, including running data for officers in the field.

Jonathon was selected to participate as a subject matter expert  in an APCO Call Receiving Standards Review in 2016.  He has completed training with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and the Washington Crime Information Center (WACIC). 

Jonathon is knowledgeable in Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) and mapping systems, Records Management Systems (RMS), emergency call taking and telephone systems, and advanced communications center equipment. He is adept in the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Incident Command System. .

In his spare time, Jonathon enjoys spending time with family and friends, hiking, and participating in recreational sports.​
