Missouri State Highway Patrol

Bio

I am currently the Communications Training Coordinator for the Missouri State Highway Patrol where I am assigned to the General Headquarters (GHQ) complex in Jefferson City. As part of my duties I assist in teaching Trooper Recruits communications procedures and practical exercises during our in-house academy. I serve as the primary coordinator and instructor for the two-week Academy that provides building blocks to newly hired Communications Operators in preparation for their time in the extensive on-the-job training program. I am also responsible for creating and managing training for the roughly 150 Communications Operators assigned across the state.

Prior to being appointed as the Communications Training Coordinator, I served as a Communications Operator, first for five years at Troop H in St. Joseph, Missouri, which served 15 counties in Northwest Missouri. I spent another five years at Troop D in Springfield, Missouri which served 18 counties in Southwest Missouri.

I became a certified Public Safety Communications Instructor through the Missouri Professional Training Partnership in 2016. The Partnership exists to provide free state-certified continuing education to public safety communications officials throughout the state. I have a passion for this because I know how underfunded agencies are in rural counties Missouri. It is my goal and to continue to provide up to date and relevant continuing education, for free, to agencies within the State of Missouri.

In July of 2018, I was lucky enough to be appointed to not one but two APCO committees, the Awards Editorial Committees. I currently serve as the Chair for the Young Professionals Committee.

From March 2019 to March 2021, I served as the Secretary for Missouri APCO and in March 2021, I took office as President of the Missouri Chapter. In October 2021, I successfully completed APCO's RPL Program, becoming the first from my agency to obtain the distinction.
