Does your agency have a Tactical Dispatch Team? Are you a Tactical
Dispatcher? Are you a COML? Are you a TERT Member? Are you a
Dispatcher in Texas? If you answered "Yes!" to any of these questions,
then I would like to meet you and discuss with you the possibility of
creating the Texas Tactical Dispatchers' Association (TTDA).
In
2008 I attended a class taught by the California Tactical Dispatchers'
Association (CTDA) at the Irving Police Department. It was an amazing
class that taught me a ton about tactical emergency communications.
CTDA put on an awesome class, and I was so glad to be a part of it. It
was a great networking event too, and I made may connections that week.
CTDA's goal was to make good dispatchers better, so that when the
tactical call comes they are equipped to handle it.
I want to
accomplish the same within the State of Texas. I want to create an
association by tactical dispatchers, for tactical dispatchers. I want
to develop a training curriculum and train new tactical dispatchers. I
want to give tactical dispatchers the tools and means to establish
tactical dispatch teams at their local agencies. That's bold, but I'm
dreaming big.
I know we have TX-APCO. I know we have TENA. And
I am a PROUD member of both. But there is nothing specific for
Tactical Dispatch in Texas, and Tactical Dispatch needs to have a voice
and a presence in Texas.
Tactical Dispatchers have so much to
offer the tactical incident, but they are being under utilized in the
State of Texas. It is my goal and desire to change that. Together, we
can change that. TTDA will change that. But we have got to want and
push for the change.
I hope to hear from all of you who are
interested, and we will set a date soon to meet. Please pass the word
along to your colleagues.
