Hello,
I'm curious if any agencies have hired people to work police communications from remote locations? With all of the technology available today, I don't see why this wouldn't be a viable option. It could be utilized during off peak times, assist in higher activity times, and help cover employee leave. This could be done for an agency located anywhere, as everything would be recorded and documented, just as it is in a dispatch center.
I have 17 years experience in police dispatch as a dispatcher, trainer, and supervisor. I miss this line of work, was very successful in it, and would love to work in this field again from a dedicated home office. I would also be interested in working critical incidents by phone, on an as needed basis.
If your agency has done anything like this or might be interested in pursing this for the future, please let me know.
