incoming 911 calls

By Diana Maloney posted 07-09-2012 09:46

With our 911 system and Intrado, we found we have to let our office 911 phone ring 2 times before picking up the receiver to let the mapping kick in.  Yes it does ring on the caller side prior to when it rings in the office, but for our data to pick up the mapping we find we let the 911 ring in office 2 times before picking it up.  we figured this out when we first were programming towers.

Works for us.

We currently have a Positron Viper phone system and Intrado Database. The two ring feature was configured for Admin calls only in effort for the system to process Caller ID data. For all 911 calls there isn’t any delay, and the first ring the caller hears is the first ring the caller taker hears. The calls map properly because the ANI/ALI data is received at the same time the call is processed.

While this may work for you, I think the system isn't working as it shoudl be designed. Two rings on the dispatch end is an eternity for the caller & significantly delays your call processing time and ability to provide service. We use New World Systems CAD/Mapping, Cassidian ECS1000/Sentinnel, AT&T 9-1-1 and Intrado Databse. Our calls map every time in less than a ring. Good luck with a resolution as you will certainly see the "vendor shuffle & finger point" here.
