NCMEC Partnership

By Lawrence Lafferty posted 02-03-2015 10:52

I am trying to compile both information and data for a survey and article regarding PSAP's and/or Law Enforcement agencies who are partners with National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). I'm hoping to publish the article to start in the April 2015 APCO Atlantic Chapter newsletter.

In 2012 APCO partnered with NCMEC and so have some PSAP's and other agencies throughout the country.
If your PSAP or agency has partnered with NCMEC please reply with the following info;
- What inspired you to become a partner or?
- When did you become a partner?
- How many staff members completed the certification course?
- What advantages have you discovered by partnering with NCMEC?
- Have any of you terminated your partnership and why?

Your cooperation and assistance in providing any and all information will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance
Lawrence

Nonie I would love to get a copy of the SOP/SOG you put together as part of the requirement to partner through the Readiness Project. Would you be willing to share that with me? I'm working on ours now. Thanks!

Lawrence,
I work for Douglas County 911 Emergency Services in Minden, NV. We became a NCMEC Partner in 2012(we completed the process that year). I signed up to take the free NCMEC Train the Trainer class in conjunction with the APCO Conference in 2011 in Philadelphia. I also decided to take the APCO RPL class and since I needed a project for my RPL certification I decided the 911 Partner program would not only fulfill that obligation of a project but also was a huge benefit to our agency because NCMEC partnered with APCO and NAED(National Academy of Emergency Dispatch) and our agency is working towards being a Tri-Accreditation. All of our 19 staff were certified and took the online course for the certification. The biggest advantage is the excellent checklist and it really helps our staff with missing and runaway juvenile calls. It is also something to be proud and it feel it empowers our staff with more knowledge which can only make them better. We are the first and so far the only agency in the state of NV that is a 911 Partner Center. Please feel free to message me if you have anymore questions or need more information.
Thank you in advance for your assistance,
Nonie McCandless, Training & Admin Supervisor, RPL/TAC

My agency is not a partner with NCMEC, an article is a great idea. I would like to use the article to move my agency towards becoming partners with NCMEC.
