NM DPS - making the switch to APCO!

The current public safety telecommunicator basic academy being conducted @ the Southeastern New Mexico Law Enforcement Academy (SENMLEA) is the beta test for the state of NM in their official switch to APCO PST 1 as the core curriculum for ALL certified PST's in NM. This class of 22 students will graduate on 09/27. The testing and evaluation results from this class will be instrumental in the series of required legislative readings allowing APCO PST 1 to be entered into the New Mexico Administrative Code (NMAC) and be used by the NM Department of Public Safety in all their basic PST academies.

REDA is proud to be part of that process as the initial cadre of PST 1 instructors for this academy. As the State South Rep for the NM APCO Chapter, I am doubly pleased that the SENMLEA satellite academy in this part of the state was chosen as the catalyst for taking APCO statewide. I am thrilled by the aspect that soon, every certified PST will have been instructed with a national-standard based curriculum and leave academy with knowledge, skills and abilities that are focused on best practices and extensive research.

Go New Mexico!!
