On Wednesday, August 10 at 8:00 {good grief that is early} a.m., Dawn Moore and myself will be giving a presentation on becoming a supervisor entitled: "You're the Boss! Now What?" During this short presentation we will discuss a bit of the culture shock that can hit a new supervisor. {like no one really seems to like you anymore} We will give some tips on how to ease into the inherent social changes and deal with the anxiety of taking on new challenges {and not having a clue what you're supposed to be doing}.
We will also discuss leadership traits that should be especially useful to the NEW Boss. How to gain trust, empower your subordinates through delegation, be an effective counselor, mentor, and LISTEN to the people. These traits should be useful to both the newly minted boss and others who have a wish to improve their work environment {yes even the simple folk who still work for a living}!
Finally we will talk about building new bosses from within your workforce. Developing people who can not only follow direction well but can also think outside the box, be problem solvers, and will someday replace you. {as if anyone could}
