Board Member, APCO Intl 2009-2011, representing the Gulf Coast Region and the International Chaper.
Currently director of the St. Tammany Parish Communications District, directing the impelementation and operation of the parish-wide 9-1-1 system. The system is built on a Positron Viper platform, with 5 primary PSPAs, 3 secondary PSAPs, and a training/backup facility.
As Director of 9-1-1 Programs and Comm Center Operations for APCO he was actively involved in the implementation of Wireless Phase II at the national level and responsible for encouraging implementation at the PSAP level. He was the first director of these programs for APCO as well as the founding director of the PSFA (Public Safety Foundation of America, an APCO subsidiary ).
In Texas, after leaving a 20+ year career with JCPenney Co, he was the Executive Director of the county's first 9-1-1 system. He was active on many state 9-1-1 programs and designed and implemented the 9-1-1 system for nine other rural counties under contract with the East Texas Council of Government. He is a past president of the Texas NENA Chapter and coordinated the first joint state conference of the APCO and NENA chapters.
Woody is an avid boater and sailor and has a lifelong love of woodworking in his home shop.
