I began my career in public safety in 1974. I served as a cadet with the Sterling Heights Police Department and then became an officer in 1977. I left the department for personal reasons and returned in 1980 as a dispatcher. I was promoted to supervisor when the position was created. I served as secretary and then president of our union for 22 years. I have also been the Michigan APCO chapter secretary for the last few years as well as co-chair of the annual fall conference for 7 years. I belong to NENA and serve on the steering committee for TERT in our state.
