I have worked in electronics for over thirty years. My interest in electronics began in high school in the drama department, learning stage audio mixing and lighting. In college I was one of few women interested in studying electronic designs.
In my earlier years of electronics, I learned to build, test and repair electronic equipment at several San Diego companies. Later I studied drafting, both pencil and computerized methods. These skills allowed me to join the County of San Diego in the Sheriff's Wireless Services (radio) Division over twenty-five years ago. After achieving the FCC General Radio Telephone Operator License, I worked hands-on radio equipment for several years. In 2003, I became the Frequency Licensing manager responsible for maintaining the FCC licenses for San Diego County and the Regional Communications System.
Which bring me to my involvement in APCO and the local chapter, CPRA. In 2007, I was proud to become the President of CPRA. Each month our meetings are filled with members who believe in training public-safety communications members to be an active part of CPRA and APCO. At every meeting we meet leaders in communication and technology, working hand-in-hand.
I enjoy traveling, the arts, and computers, am some-what of a “techno-nerd”, who enjoys people and am often found helping her church family. I am married to Keith, a “one-of-a-kind” talented guy and great husband. My dogs are a gift from God to keep me sane at times. Those who have pets know what I mean.
