I started as a dispatcher with the Kansas City, Missouri Police in 1990 after having worked as a Campus Police Officer and in Private Security for a large Pharmaceutical Company. I was promoted to Supervisor in 1994, and have been assigned as a watch supervisor, training supervisor, and eventually as the Operations Supervisor for the Communications Unit.
In 2007, I was promoted to Manager of Communications for KCPD, moving to a position focusing on Interoperability and technology in 2012. In 2024, I retired from KCPD and have taken the position of Director of the Communications Division at the Platte County MO Sheriff's Office.
I serve on a variety of committees at the Mid-America Regional Council, our regional intergovernmental coordinating agency. I am a certified instructor through the Department of Homeland Security's Emergency Communications Division to teach the ICS based Communications Leader course, and am working on development of some supervisory and management level training courses for Public Safety Communications personnel.
