Bio

I am the 911 Training Instructor/Coordinator at the Northwest Campus of the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy.  My responsibilities include instructing, coordinating, and developing curriculum for Telecommunicators as well as designing and developing online curriculum. Currently, I am serving as the Arkansas APCO Treasurer and have held that position since 2020.

I have worked in public safety for twenty-five years and started my public safety career on June 6, 1997, for the Fayetteville Police Department as a Telecommunicator, rising to the rank of Lead Dispatcher.

In 2003, I moved to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office as the Communication Center Manager.  In 2011, I earned my designation as a Registered Public Safety Leader through APCO International.  I served as APCO Executive Council Representative for Arkansas from November of 2008 to January 2012.

During this time, I was a key player in getting standardized training in Arkansas and was one of the founding persons who helped get HB1741 passed, now known as Act 640 of 2011.  This made standardized training available in the State of Arkansas.  I was part of the team which created the Basic Telecommunicator Course curriculum used today at the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy.

In 2012, I moved over to the University of Arkansas (Fayetteville) Communications Center and as their Public Safety Communications Center Manager.  I took this move so I could finish my bachelor’s degree.  In 2018, I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education in Human Resource and Workforce Development.

I enjoy spending my off time watching my son play college baseball as well as spending time with my grandson.  I continue my commitment in striving to ensure training and resources are available to keep our state on the forefront of public safety communications.  My motto is, “A better world begins with a better me. And a wise person I know always said, the best way to cope with change is to be a part of it!"
